Alpha 1 Stern drive ID

Does this serial number look right? 9C496349. It is very hard to read and I need to order a water pump. Would this be the correct water pump? http://www.iboats.com/mall/partfind...&gd_poid=110924&gd_row=3&session_id=250472734 The boat is a 89 SeaRay 7.4

I thought that the serial number matched. Can you help me find the right one?

Mercruiser serial numbers start with a 0, at least the the mid 80's on do. If you replace the 9 with a 0 it shows an alpha 1 1.50 ration R.H. drive. I thought all the 7.4l equipped alphas came with a 1.32 ratio so it may not be right. If it really is an Alpha 1 that kit is correct for what you have though.

It is an alpha 1. I know it's strange with this motor but that's what it came with. So the link I gave is the right pump that I need?

Maybe someone put in a bigger motor. But who knows boats come in strange configurations sometimes. As long as you have an Alpha 1 (non gen II) that kit is what you need.
