Hi all,
Is it advisable to trim down an Alpha stern drive for storage. Would this be advantage for both short term storage between trips and a long winter? I currently have it trim up (full trailer) protected by ram locks.

Thanks

Hi all,
What would be the reason for keeping it down? Would one put a pad on the floor and have the skeg rest on the pad? Thanks.

Because with it fully trimed up the u - joint bellows and shift cable bellows are stretched to the max. Thats not good for long storage.

While out drive down is the best for any lenght of storage time, there is one caution. If it is near the floor, allow room for it to drop a little further. Someone may raise the trailer tongue or a tire may go flat, thereby placing too much pressure on the skeg/prop. At least keep it up a little to allow for the unanticipated drop. Up just a little does not place too much stretch on the bellows etc.
Uncle Dave
