Got the set of new bearings for the uper drive gears. It comes with the large and small spacers. I suppose this answers my question of throwing the spacers.

Problem is the bearings don't look right.

I got the 31-35988A 9 bearing set. It says 1.50 Heavy Duty ratio only. I have 1.50, are there two different 1.50 gears? The set consists of 2 different bearing part numbers.
1. One bearing is Timken P/N 386A, 382A, the other Timken 375, 371A. The numbers are the rollers and cups.
2. Main difference is the ID, the 386A is 1 7/8", the 375 is 2". The shaft end on the drive gear is straight, not stepped as shown in Merc parts illustration. The old bearings are both 386A's.
3. The new spacers are also thinner than the old, about half.

Did I get the right bearing set? Should it be the 31-35988A12 instead?
