Since the unit is apart, tried to remove the bearings to check them out. Bearings seem stuck on the drive gear. Unit had water when the bellow broke but oil was changed out within the day.

Have taken off the nut at the end of the yoke, seal carrier is off, yoke is also off. The bearings won't come off, going to put it under a press-should I?

Are the bearings supposed to slide on to the gear or are they pressed fit? The book desciption seem to indicate a minor press fit that the nut wll be able to work.

depends on the unit
some fall apart and others are a light press. the Gen II is a light press. most with a small spacer fall apart. units with a single large spacer usually need a light press to dissasemble.
protect the gear teeth and press the beaings off the drive gear. should not take much pressure. keep the races and bearings in the original orientation. use a new pinion nut and tension washer on reassembly and carefully inspect the yoke for grooves. if grooved try to post a pic and ill try to explain how to make a tool to correctly center the seal in the carrier but move it aft .03" dont like to do it much but the seals in the upper can be moved some if done properly when parts are either unavalible or just to expensive to purchase. find both in VE.I imagine singapore is about the same.
the seals on the driven gear shaft are movable as well to counter a worn/rusted surface on the driven gear.

Thanks Rodbolt. Got the gears off with a press.

Yoke is good, no need to do magic with it..at least something is intact.

Will change the bearings, somewhat notchy.
