Alpha Gen II-Gear Lube Transom Fitting Broken

The brass barb is broken on the through transom fitting that had my gear lube hose on it that goes from the transom to the bell housing. (Picture attached)

Can someone give me some guidance on how to replace this brass fitting? (quicksilver/merc #8922) Looks like I'm in for a ton more work than I bargained for.

Outdrive and bellhousing are already removed.

Alpha 1 gen II outdrive on a mercruiser 5.0L 1995 Sea Ray 200 Signature.

You may need to remove the steering cylinder for access. From inside the boat you remove the "E" clip and push the fitting out the transom. Install the hose on the new fitting, insert thru transom, attack "E" clip and hose

Being the brass fitting, it will have a nut holding it on vs an E-clip. The E-clip is the for the plastic fitting. But the rest is right on. Remove the hose fitting (item number 5) then the nut # 4 and push from the inside/pull out from the outside. Might want to spray some lube from the inside to get it slide a bit easier since there's an O-ring # 2. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/s...30858/1017/180

Fun times and boat doc I appreciate the advice and quick and friendly response. Got parts in order and going to start getting steering cylinder out of the way so I can easily access this.

Any pointers for moving steering cylinder? Will definitely use some long needle nose thanks for that tip

It`s not easy, there is a metal locking tab that must be raised to allow you to turn the bolt and to get a wrench on it. The top bolts is easy, but its the bottom bolt thats more fun. Once there unscrewed , you should be able to move the cylinder around .Worst case is remove the cotter pins and clevis pin ans remove it completely

Done! Thank ya'll for the guidance. Did not have to remove steering cylinder which made for extremely slow progress and a tight squeeze, but with some blood and patience I got it done. Thanks again.
