I ordered part # 30-803099T-1 from wholesale marine to replace gimbal bearing and bellows etc. The new gimbal bearing that shipped with this kit does not have a channel or a hole in the outer housing of the gimbal bearing beneath the tolerance ring for grease to flow through.

Is this the wrong gimbal bearing? I ordered this kit as OEM to make sure I was buying the best.

The only identifying characteristics on the gimbal bearing are these letters/numbers which don't show on any internet search: 1313y-5539

That is the right part number for the A1G2 kit and I imagine the gimbal bearing was in a box and also in the box is the 'plug' to install where the zerk fitting is now?

Also inside the box will be all the instructions on removing the old grease nipple and fitting the plug. May I suggest you actually do that. Leaving the old nipple in place can lead to confusion (and extra expense). Someone will try and grease a 'solid' housing, think something is wrong and then pull out a perfectly good bearing (which can't be put back in, the act of removing them renders them dead)...

My old boss was fond of saying, RTI...:)

Here is how it was explained to me:

The (sealed) bearing should have been used on all gen 2's and Bravo's. There was a class action suit against Mercury in 1998 and instead of a recall the judge ordered from that date (1998) all gen 2's and Bravo's use the heavy duty bearing. I have used the same bearing in gimbals from 1968/up. Make sure the 2 slots face you when installing. Clean surface area for bearing. Smooth out ridges left from old bearing
