Alpha I gen II outdrive?????

I'm trying to find out what what out drive I have. Previous owner said new out drive put on in 1999(Boat and motor 1988).

1.94 0A897105 numbers on out drive

00423236 numbers on bell housing???

1999 is definitely Gen II, but that serial number is invalid, and not even close to 1999, closer to 1986... which is the original Alpha 1.

If there is only 4 nuts and bolts holding the upper and lower together, then it's Gen II. If 5 studs, then not Gen II.

Thanks, after looking at this, it is a alpha 1. Must have had it replaced with an older model.

You can't put an Alpha I Gen II drive on an Alpha I transom shield assembly. The drive may have been replaced in 99, but it would still have to be an Alpha I style drive.
