I gotta tell ya...This has me puzzled. Iv'e had this drive for 3 years now and noticed this bump on the side but never gave it much thought until I was changing impellers and seals on it just yesterday. It might have had some water underneath it and it lifted the filler that was hiding it.

I don't think it will leak as the drive was fine all last season and shows no oil residue. I won't know for sure until I pressure test it.

Anyone?

Ayuh,...... That cavity gets plugged up with mud, 'n crud, the water can't drip out the weep-hole at the bottom, then when it freezes, ya get that happenin',.....

If those cavities ain't kept cleaned out, yer seein' the results,.....

Makes sense..it appears to be in line with the weep hole.

I'll fill it with epoxy and move on.

My grandfathers 1966 Penn Yan had the same thing, except on other side of outdrive. Bondo nailed the root cause, expoy it in and you'll be fine fir a few more years. The expoxy only lasts so long, before you need to dig it out and do over

It is holding 15 psi for about 2 hrs now.

It initially bled off most of most of it's pressure after 6 hrs but I added some oil and moved the gears around and re pressurized it.

If it doesn't drop overnight I think I'm good to go
