I have an 87 Wellcraft CC and the alpha one drive (New boat to me) will not trim up or down. Any button I hit on the throttle will not engage the drive. I have used a jumper to jump between 12v and blue or green wire on the solenoid and the drive will raise and lower. I'm really good with mechanical things...electrical not so much. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Could the switches themselves be bad or the solenoids? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Also, coming out of the outdrive is 2 sets of black wires. One set it male end connectors and hooked up to the 1/2 wires in the troubleshooting diagrams online, and another set is there with a male and female connector attached, but not hooked up to anything. Problem is I don't see them in any of the schematics in the manual and have no idea what they are there for.

Thanks again!

Re: Alpha one drive wont trim up or down.

The pairs of black wires are for the gauge sender and the limit switch, and will not affect the DOWN of the trim system.

You may have a 20A fuse in the small red wire that runs up to the switches in the throttle lever, check that, also check the connector at the trim pump, make sure it's plugged in and the connections are clean.

If you tell us the engine and the engine serial number of what you're working on, I can post up a wiring diagram.

The fuse is good, I have checked that before along with the connector plug. I have a 350 in it now but I believe it originally came with the 305. Im sorry for not being able to give the serial #.

And looking at that has all the troubleshooting guides to see if the solenoids and fuse are good too. Thank you, that's exactly what I needed! Ill run through that and report back.
