HI All,

Question one:
Why do I get oil constantly blowing out of the plastic drive oil resevoir cap?

Question Two:
My drive came out of gear today while planed out for no reason. Was able to get back home in idle. Pulled lower unit off. Coupling and drive shaft found normal. Drained oil from drive unit and found no metal. Cable again?

Thanks Kevin

Is it over full, or milky?

Sounds more like a spun prop hub. Try a spare prop, or take off the prop mark the inner and outer hubs and try it. Then recheck the marks. If marks have moved, you need a new hub in your prop.

Nope not at all. Green as can be.

Didn't think of the prop. Its a lazer stainless steel prop. Thought they were
solid hubs.

Have no idea, but I bet if you ask over in the prop forum they can tell you.

There's supposed to be a vent hole in the drive reservoir. If it gets pluged you will have a mess. If you have to, stick in knife in the top to make sure you have an open vent...and don't overfill. A couple inches is all you need.

If there ain't no grinding noise you either have a slipped prop or spun coupler.

OK. I'll check that out. Thought I remember a rubber vent in cap though not sure how this feature would vent at all but I'll check it out.

When you say spun coupler do you mean the engine coupler can spin as well.

Hypothetically speaking, If the prop is fine then what would cause the coupler to spin?

Thanks

Kevin

Spun prop was exactly the problem and thank you Don S.

Drive oil still pukes from reservoir cap vent though. So strange.

Thanks again.
