Alpha one Gen2 prop shaft spec?

I have a 1999 boat with 5.0L and alpha one drives (2) I have had problems with a vibration on the starboard side. I have had the props balanced but the vibration seems to still be there but at a slightly higher rpm that before.<br /><br />The boat is hauled out for the winter and I pulled the drives. Today I used a dial indicator on the prop shaft (shaft still in gearcase) the starboard measured 4.5 thou out and the port measured 3 thou out.<br /><br />is there a spec on this>?<br /><br />thanks<br />Pete

The Spec in the Merc Manual #6 states that .005 is the Max run-out when measured at the Smooth part of the shaft, ahead of the prop splines....

Hello<br /> make sure while you rotate the shaft that you dont force it up and down or side to side. good luck and keep posting
