Recently had boat out for slow cruise w/family. Was running along just fine and it seemed like it came out of gear. Motor revved up and was going nowhere. This happened last year but i just dropped her back into neutral and then back into drive and she took right off. This time it just revs up and goes nowhere. Although it did get me back to ramp but only at an idle. Is my outdrive junk or is it something simple, maybe driveshaft sheared keyway? Not to familiar with alpha one any help would be appreciated.

your moveing so your in gear which is good

are you getting a lot of noise when it happens the drive jumping out of gear is a pretty rough sound

the easy fix is is if you have a bad prop hub which if your slipping that much should be easy to see

and easy test is just to try a different prop

if its not that then you may have a problem with the coupler which is on the motor flywheel and turns the outdrive

thats a big fix which requires drive and motor pull

tommays

there is no noise coming from the outdrive it just acts like a car with no trans fluid in it. I can hear it go into gear its just got no propulsion it only puts at an idle at 1000 rpm.
