Is it possible that I am getting water into my engine via the sterndrive?

The person i bought the boat from, whom ive known for many years, just replaced the impeller in the sterndrive before i bought it. Now i am getting water in the engine oil?

Is it possible that the exhaust flapper, assuming there is one is stuck open? He claims that he never had an issue with water in oil before. The engine has new block, head was redone with all new gaskets, compression tests fine in all cylinders.

Its got to be coming through the sterndrive? right?

Motor is a mercruiser 3.0, I’m not sure what the serial number is as it’s wore off. Motor was just done maybe 2 years ago and only had maybe 10 hours out in it

Water in engine oil usually comes from a cracked block that was improperly winterized. Unfortunately there are a lot of those in area that usually don't get much below freezing but experienced a cold spell last year.

Another cause is a cracked exhaust manifold. A cracked intake manifold can also do that. Need to plug the hose going to the exhaust mani and pressure test the block. 15 PSI, should hold indefinitely.
