My outdrive will go down when using tilt/trim button, but will not go back up. It will go back up using the "trailer" button though. Where is the best place to start looking for issue. I can somewhat work on the motor(mercruiser 4.3) but never have done much with the outdrive other than change the oil. When pushing the button up.....I don't hear the motor running or anything trying to move.

Thanks for the thread......hmmmm this looks to be a total PIA. What's the average cost of having it replaced at a shop? What would I roughly expect to pay?

No idea but I would stick with the trailer up option instead of going through that project.

Re: Alpha One Trim up issue

On my old boat I wired up the trim up to work as trailer. I could tell when it was trimmed. The hull design would porpoise very easily so I never got close to what would normally be full trim up. If you just use the trailer button be careful not to get it above what full would be full trim up or you could damage the u-joints.

I have been running my boat for 3 seasons with just basic up down buttons it is not a problem unless you let someone else unfamiliar with your boat run it.

If the wires are in good shape you can remove the trim limit switch (port side), disassemble and clean up the contacts, and maybe get it to work again.

Had the exact same issue last week it was the trim limit on the port side.

I just had that same problem. Pull off the port side trim sender and check to make sure that the indicator mark is properly aligned. If not, locate the alignment mark on the housing and make sure that it is lined up with the tallest spline and reinstall. Check for proper operation and correct throw. Hope this helps.
