Working on a customers alpha one, both pivot pins are rounded out so they won't come out. What's the best/fastest method to remove them? Already tried heat,as they had a little bite left before we started repairs, but as the owner stated, the po did his own repairs himself... And it show's... I'd prefer to save the bell, but if it's gotta go...... Had another tech tell us the bell has to be cut out and replaced.

i have ground down allen bits to a tapered fit, pound it in, lots of heat and removed

last resort is tack weld a pin tool on the pin, lots of heat and remove

i have never had to cut a bell housing to remove it

Find your local portable welder guy and have him weld allen wrench`s in the pivot bolt holes. The heat from welding will loosen the Loctite too.

Well welding steel to a narrow area on a stainless pin is an option I suppose.I can do that myself. Also the tapered allen might work but there isn't much there and it might expand the remains to actually bind it up.hmmmm....

Got them out! Heat and an oversized allen wrench saved the day. Thank's for the input!

Ayuh,.... Cool,..... I was thinkin' drill, 'n easy-out, the short spiral kind,...

I dislike those monstrosities with a passion! Had more things stuffed up by them then they fixed... I prefer to drill and re-tap.... or in this case, weld a hex key in...
