Hi Guys,I need to replace a trim cylinder on my 88 alpha v8 i/o.I got one on ebay that said it would fit any alpha. It looks like it will fit but it is not exactly like the ones that I have now.My current cylinders are wider in circumference and are about the same size from end to end.The one I got from ebay looks to be from an older model. They are wider on the ends and taper into a more streamline cylinder.I probably wont use it but would it work anyway???? I wouldn't recommend using it. If there is any difference in length, when all the way up or down it will bind and twist things till something breaks. You may also find the drive won't go up and down quite right because of different volumes of fluid in each side. There is also a difference in Port and Starboard cylinders.

I seem to remember something about the Older Round Tube rams are a Smaller piston dia............
1" vs. 1 1/4"..........
They also use a different set of outboard trim lines...........
