Alpha unit losing lube - no lube in water or bilge

My 2003 Mercruiser 350Mag Alpha lower unit is losing lower unit lube. The boat has 85 hours on it and I have added one pint of gear lube to the reservoir during that time. I originally thought there may be a bubble in the unit but this has gone well beyond that. There is no indication of an oil slick under the unit when it is up on the boat lift and there is no indication of oil of any kind in the bilge. Where is it going??

if the unit has never been serviced ?

it would be a good time to change the oil and have it pressure tested for leaks

the condition of the oil and passing a pressure test are the only things that will really tell what is going on

tommays

I agree with charlie on the bellows full of oil, another place the Gen II drive would loose lube is at the shift shaft bushing in the drive where the shift shaft goes through. You can check yours, if it's the white colored plastic one, they leaked most of the time. The new ones are black plastic and seem to work.

Item 35 in the picture.
