Alpha upper gear housing

I cracked the upper gear housing on my alpha one drive. I hooked the trim cylinder lines on one cylinder up incorrectly, thus one cylinder went up and the other down. I know it was a dumb mistake.....

I have been told that this can be welded. Has anyone ever done this? Also, what kind of metal is the housing made of?

Sorry, I've already taken it to the welder. But it was broke right behind the pin that the trim cylinders bolt onto.

On the far aft end? That should be no problem for anybody that can weld aluminum.
