What would the most likely cause be for the outdrive to intermittently get stuck in forward? This is happening with the boat in water. It usually frees by quickly shifting farther forward and back towards neutral while idling. At times it has locked at the dock. With the engine off ,the lower shift cable was disconnected at the transom and moved easily but could not travel all the way into reverse by pulling hard on the cable. The cable felt as if it hit the end of its travel. As if it was hitting something that shouldn't be there. Cable moved smooth until the travel stopped prematurely. I was able to free it up by pushing the prop with a pole. The problem went away for weeks and just started up again. What are the most probable causes? Shift slide? Internal shifting in lower?
