Is there a difference in the life span/quality between the different manufacturers? Mainly Sierra vs. Quicksilver/mercury?

Mine is only 2-3 yrs. old, which is about 30-50 hrs MAYBE, but in sandy water, so it is time for replacement this winter.

Which kit is rec.? Last replacement was a quicksilver complete pump kit, do I need that or just an impeller and gasket set?
thanks

Ive compared them side by side and i didn't see any major difference in the brands and Sierra has always been good to me also i would just go for the impeller and gasket if theres no sign of other wear.

You probably don't need the pump housing, unless it's just worn out.
You do need an impeller kit, with gaskets. Personally, I don't like the aftermarket stuff. It's just not as good. But it is close to fitting.

DonS what is the part number for just that part of the kit? Is it a kit or just the individual parts, impeller, gaskets, quad seal? Anything else.

I'm running a full closed system, so I don't want to chance it. I haven't pulled it apart yet, but I seriously doubt anything is wrong with the housing, I'd bet the impeller is fine too - but with the closed system, I want to be safe.

The OEM kit is PN 43026Q06
It includes the impeller, gaskets and new SS plate under the impeller and between the gaskets. Also include the face seal on top of the pump and the tool to install it correctly. Something they don't put in the aftermarket kits.
