I normally used the UL-77V gapless plugs in my 1975 135, But I was in Wallyworld the other day I saw some marine plugs on CHEAP sale ($1.50 each). Guys were swarming around and because the number looked close the numbers I am familiar to, I went ahead a bought four of them.

They are Champion 5828 which says it replaces QL77CC and QL77JC4.

The book says that Champion L77J4 are alternates. What is the difference between low speed L77J4's and the one's I bought (QL77JC4)? Can I run them?

The parts diagram at BRP also shows L77J4.

The dealership here recommended the QL77JC4 for low speed running, and that's what I've used on my 135(73) and 115(76) for years. It better be right because they sure run well.

Champion literature says that they developed the Q plugs specifically for outboards to reduce electronic emissions. The C in the number represents copper which apparently is the shield material: web page

Thanks! I'm glad I grabbed them up.
