Re: Alternative to carpet for floor covering???

Let me check tonight, I just bought a can of it about 6 months ago to recoat the high traffic areas of my floor.
You will need the primer too.
I will try and post the name or a picture of the can.
You can get it in many colors, they will mix it for you.
The primer is great. I used just the primer on my sons toy boat we built, he has played with it for about the last year in the bath tub and the indoor oak 1/4" ply wood looks the same today as when I built it.

Valspar skid not, you need to make sure and use the primer first.
My floor was marine plywood, primer, then skid coating. Then I put I think 2 coats on. A gallon will last you several years if you store it inside. I have not recoated the floor for acouple of years and it just visually looks like it needs recoated, functionally it is fine, but I do plan on putting a fresh coat on before next season.
One disadvantage is it does not go back to the new look, however I have had lots of fish blood and slim in the boat over the past two years. I also as you can see in the picture have a floor drain on each side, so I wash the blood off after a catch and use the bilge pump to pump the bloody water out of the boat. Things get a mess when you have a 1 or 2 bloody salmon on the floor.
For my use I would use this same coating again, I used the same stuff on my camper steps.

Love my vinyl deck.

Best prices on Nautolex are at http://www.defender.com/category.jsp?path=-1|10918|311409&id=311410

EZ,

Think i'm gonig to go with the Nautolex. I just looked at some sample boards and they have an underlining also, by chance did you happen use that on your install?

****

Also can you tell me about the deck hatch, mine didn't come w/ one. and if installed it would provide several Sq foot of storage, not dry storage, but that kind of space is at a premium on the smaller boats..

Thanks.

You can also try Dek-Master which is a roll vinyl for outdoor decks, advantages over Nautilex is it comes in 74"width, priced a little better because it is not marine, but comes in a limited number of colors. http://www.ducan.com/vinyl-decking/default.php

Thank-you for the ideas,

I like the idea of the Dek-Master, unfortunately I ordered the Natulex about 6 hrs before i saw the post. So I guess it will be Vinyl. I think it will work out nicely.. pictures @

Jetcraft has it figured out. They cut the deck panels in sections, cover them in vinyl and staple it to the back then put the deck in and screw it down. If you have a bad spot you just take one section out and replace it. I always put the deck in first, secured it, then glued the vinyl down but Jetcrafts method makes so much more sense to me.

Same as the Alaskan interior on my Lund 18 - pebble grain vinyl over plywood. Held up fine under the gentle use I gave the boat and cleaned nicely with soap scrub and water.

I went yinyl , 72" wide non skid. I like the idea of snapping in some carpet for those times when the admiral is on board as she has a little say as to what goes into the old chieftain.

Basically just another name brand, and probably almost identical to Dek-Master is Duradek.
http://www.duradek.com/duradek.html?

I used some in my Fiberglass boat on the deck, and it worked like a charm. I used the leftovers from my sun-deck, which is going on 6 years of facing the rising sun and looks great. I have the same color and look as ezmobee's, and unless I find Dek-Master to be a lot cheaper I'll use it again. I got a big roll for a song, so never actually paid retail, but from what I hear Duradek is not cheap. It will cost you a fortune to have a professional installation. For real fortune.

Paul, Totem and Home Depot carry Dek-Master 74"wide and $9.95 per lineal foot.
