I had a 1966 Starcraft with a 110hp or 120hp Mecruiser motor in it and I had an alternator rebuilt but I never used it. Now I have a 1970 Slickcraft with a 165hp Mecruiser in it and I want to know if this alternator will work with this boat.

I have another question last years I took my 1970 Slickcraft out for the first time right before the end of the fishing season. It fired right up but water was coming in threw one of the bellow hoses. Do any of you kow where I can find a kit to replaced the hoses, gasket, bearings, seals and clamps cheap. Do I have to take the gimbal off to replace all this stuff? One more thing do you also need the outdrive alignment tool or can I take it off and get it back on with out messing the alignment up? Thanks..........

Ayuh,....

1,... It should work jus Fine.....

2,...Right here a iboats.com,.... Click on the Merc. Parts link at the top of this page....

3,... Yes,....

4,... The Motor determines the Alignment,... Not the Outdrive....

Just to add to what Bondo writes...

3. Depends upon what you are defining as "gimbal." The bellhousing needs to come off - but not the gimbal ring.

4. Do you need the alignment tool? Yes. Bondo's right that the motor determines the alignment, but if you haven't checked it, it needs to be checked before you reinstall the outdrive.
