I have read somewhere on the internet (so I know that it's true!) that "marine" belts are made from special stuff and I should use those instead of automotive belts. I am putting some basic spare parts together in advance of a vacation trip this summer and want to include the "marine" grade alternator and power steering belts, just in case. Perhaps I am staring right through it, but I cannot find part numbers for a VP v-belt in any of my VP owners manuals, VP workshop manuals, on the vpstore website, etc. I did find some Sierra belts online that replace specific VP part numbers so I know there are VP part numbers for my belts that are out there somewhere. Where might I find these part numbers?

Engine is a 2003 4.3 GL-C.

Sorry but I have to :pound: thanks I needed that

Bets for the most parts are belts, but I don't go that far with Sierra parts. I would stick with OEM, Gates, Parker, Goodyear, the name brand parts, but this is just my opinion. Now if your going to just carry them for a just in case then by all means use Sierra parts or any other. VP parts are way higher then need be, also IMO

The VP store will give you their part numbers and then search for crossovers.

Thanks for clearing up the marine vs. auto question.

Can someone tell me where to find the part numbers for the belts? I have tried the volvopentastore.com and roamed all over but have yet to find a single reference (or even a pic of one?) to a belt anywhere on that site. If I go to goodyear marine website I can find cross-references from VP belt part numbers to goodyear belt part numbers but I need to know the correct VP part number first. Has anyone actually sourced a belt for their boat using part numbers before?

I hate to have to take the belts off and drive to the local auto store to try to source a belt - that wastes a ton of time and I generally try to avoid those places at all costs because they no longer hire anyone that has even the beginnings of one clue about what they are doing. "You need a belt for a boat? FWD or RWD? Does the boat have four wheel drive?"

Perhaps my internet search skills are getting outdated. Thanks for the link, AllDodge.
