I have the 5.7 in a 1988 24' Albemarle. Is there a converstion where i can drop the power steering pump to teh bottom and bring my altenator up to where the PS pump is now. I just saw a pic of what I want but dont know if it was a homemade job or not. I do not like my altenator down in teh bilge area. Thanks for any advice

Are you worried about the alternator getting wet? or not cooling? Or? Do you have a comparison pic? I can't imagine it making a lot of difference in distance form the one spot to the other, interesting thought though.

Later model engines do have the alternator mounted up higher, like you are suggesting, but the change-over would not be easy, or cheap....

Ayuh,.... Whether ya use Merc or Volvo bracketry, ya pretty much have to change ALL of the brackets on the front of the motor, 'cause they all work together,...

It ain't easy, nor cheap,...
