Alu. Erosion around hood gasket?

I am doing a good once over my new ride. I noticed under the gasket, round the glass hood and the "tub", is rotten due to life in the salt chuck. I skuffed the chunks of "cheese" off the housing. How do I "RE" protect the ALUMINIUM? And should I put something between the gasket and housing? Like a grease?

A good Marine-grade silicone, or 3M 5200 Adhesive (the same goo probably used to seal the motor mounting hardware), should serve the purpose of filling the gaps.<br />As for re-protecting the aluminum, clean it shiny, then get some Zinc Chromate primer, and brush or gun apply.
