Hi Guys--I am new to the forum and live in Arkansas as you can probably guess. I hope I am in the proper forum to post this article--if not sorry

I have a 16 foot Crestliner, but want to find an older boat for a project. Like an old Lund or river style boat, like maybe 19-20 feet long and a beam of 100 inches. Just boat and trailer it can be a stripped hull, I will fix it the way I want it as far as seating. I will even do some minor work on a leak, but not too much.

I live in Mineral Springs Arkansas close to the Texas state line, about 2 hours from Little Rock. Prefer to buy a boat in my area.

Can anyone help or give me some contacts---I am not rich now--just a poor arkansascountry boy.----Thanks

sounds like a great project. but you need to keep the beam down to 96 inches overall, over that in some states requires special permits for towing. if you are going to use guide ons one the trailer you need to consider these in the width. i added Guide ons, to my pontoon, but have not gotten caught yet.

You say that you will do a little bit of leak work?

You know, chances are a 'free' boat (no such thing as a free boat) Will need a lot of work. Transom, deck, stingers, paint, upholstery, hardware, probably an engine, fuel tanks, steering system, controller, REGISTRATION.... the list goes on and on

How 'bout Craigslist? Here's a couple prospects I saw with a quick search (OK, some aren't aluminium):

No trailer, but can be had for 20 bucks: http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/boa/936967062.html

Another way to find what you want is to visit your local marinas and see what they have laying around "out back". Hey, you never know. Good luck.
