Alumacraft Deck Drain

I've had a 1989 16' Alumacraft for four years that's deck has never properly drained. In a torrential downpour or when taking water over the bow in choppy conditions, the deck pools up ankle-deep.

I have a 1000gph auto bilge pump that works fine and no water below decks.

The drain is pop-riveted in with carpet all around. Are there any potential problems to drilling out the rivets and pulling up the drain grate to find out what's wrong?

Those deck drains should just drain into the bilge but it appears there is some blockages below deck that prevents the water from getting to the pump area. You may need to pull up the foor to see what's going on.

Silvertip,

I don't think there's any "pulling up the floor" on this boat. It's all welded aluminum.
