alumicraft all welded ?

brother in law recently bought an alummicraft boat all welded . transom wood is rotted.it is enclosed inside and out except at bottom interior. is it possible to repair the wood without removing [cutting out and rewelding inside transom] ?? i feel like i can fix most anything but this looks really tough.

cant post pics , boat is 300mi. away. transom is welded alum both sidesexcept for 2in space at bottom inside. poking up into this slot produces crumbs of rotted wood.thanks

You may want to look at some Crestliner restorations since they are welded as well. It seems most transom replacements involve removing the cap on top. Depending on the boat you may be cutting some welds or if you're lucky, just some screws. Once the top portion of the "skin" is off you remove the rotted wood, build and install your new transom wood and reinstall the cap you removed for access. Sounds easy
