Hello,

I have a 2003 Mercury 75hp 4 stroke and I need technical advise on choosing the right propeller.
I have a Aluminum 3 blade propeller 13 1/4 x 17 work fine but missing a bit of torque at the take off with a 180 pound water skier( one ski only at take off). At the take off I have the trim down and once the skier is out of the water I trim it back up to get my maximum speed (35 mph @ 6000 RPM).
My question is to know if I will gain torque at the take off and speed with an Aluminium 4 blade versus a 3 blade Stainless steel?

Thank you

Danny

four blades have more torque. most times no speed is sacrificed. i gained 2 mph and hole shot was better after switching. if you put a ss 4x17pitch youd lose 200 rpms. but there would be less slip. of coarse if motor can be lifted up any may not even lose any rpms. where is cavitation plate in relation to bottom of transom?? good 4 balde props like to ride closer to the surface.

trim tabs?

Your pulling a skier at 35mph?
Do a search on here and look for Turning Point prop Hustler reviews, I did one 2 yrs ago on my 07 90 Merc 4 Stroke and couldn't be happier, a lot better holeshot, far less cavatation in the turns and an increase in 2mph over the Merc stock Black Max of the same pitch and diameter.
