and how wide and how tall is the transom?

and how is the bottom constructed? - flat? curved?

However if your boat has a 3' wide transom, 5hp
if your boat has a 4' wide transom 7.5hp

I had a 10' Lowe "Lake John" which was wider and deeper than the normal John. I ran a 7 ½ Merc on it and felt it would run just fine with a 10 hp. Really a nice little boat for protected water, Crappie fishing and running trot lines.

We had a 9.9 on an old Sears car topper. It would pull a kid skiing behind it. I would say 9.9 maximum.
