Yea, I have a 140 in my other boat and I like it is a 18ft'r thats 2ft narrower and 1-1.3.3ft shorter and it does .....okay..

Hey, how about a merc 140 twin turbo?? That should get me, deservingly, beat up a little  . Okay, "one" was a thought, but, I dont want that much crap in my boat.

SUPERCHARGER! They suck-up air before detonation :D . Turbos are exhaust driven :( . Bad idea on a boat, water's not good for engines :D ! Git er done!

I wanted a boat no bigger than 19ft with the highest sides possible to go deep, or, deep as one can with a 19ft'er.
Ya got the Wrong Hull........

1 of These in 19' is what You Want,+ with a 140hp,... It'll really Scoot.......
With a 4.3l,..... It'll FLY...........

Starcraft Islander,......
It's So Deep that you'd have to Jump to Fall Out........
The Holiday Hulls are about the Same,.. Without the Cabin.............

I could be putting the cart before the horse, but, why is the stern so close to the water? that scares me in big wave conditions. I was looking at this guys boat (and secretly hoping he would sell it to me, lol)

I figure that with my silly 4 banger idea, or the 140, should lighten up the azz a little and bring her even more out of the water.

I do see that the boat you present has a big ol bow, maybe the most important part i take it? Learning is fun....

I had one of those motors (470 block with a 4 barrel carb. ) If I remember, it was 185 HP, it had so many problems, It idled rough when cold,( made the engine mounts go bad ) always had head sealing issues, had to deal with the battery charging issues, then there is the cam seal issues, parts were a pia in getting them, had to get a larger heat exchanger to keep the engine from over heating, but when it did run well, it was a very strong motor, if I was in your shoes, I'd go with a v-6, if you can afford or have the money, and if the boat is rated, i'd go v-8, there is no substute for cubic inches, the 3.0 liter I-4 is a good motor,so don't discount it, however you'll have to spend $$$$ for the correct gear ratio on lower units, on anything you get, as the gearing on that 470 motor was an odd ratio .... I think the I-6 block had the same ratio
