Absolutely Correct. ABYC E-11 shows both black and Yellow but ISO uses yellow so yellow is slowing being adopted here as well.

same topic different question.
using an aluminum hull as ground plane for antenna, will it cause corrosion and would I be better off to have a isolated piece of metal somewhere to use as a ground plane?
The radio is just an am/fm reciever but a circuit is completed through the antenna and the sacrificial on the lower unit
I get very good reception but the questions always been on the back of my mind.

Ayuh,....

As long as your anode isn't disappearing,... You're got No problem,...

Mine is the same way,+ My anodes still look New...

Don Caseys' article could be easily mis-read. I think that he is using the term 'positive ground' to describe a good quality, individual ground.

For the Topic,... Dunaruna hit it at post #2,...

Don Casey should have stated a "Dedicated Electrical Ground".....

I was hoping my post was clear. so far no signs of corrosion on the hull and the anode isn't shrinking. I get really good reception i've gotten stations from maine to washington state so I'm glad I don't have to change it.

Regarding the antenna, it's fine. Well, unless you get hit by lightning. That would probably cause just a wee bit of annode wear.

Just a note for the others that might not know, grounding a receive only antenna keeps it from transmitting artifical noise (I'm being simplistic).

What happens is that your boat generates noise and if it happens to be in the range of any even upper order of the radio station frequency that your are trying to receive it will cancel it out.

The more noise you can keep off the antenna the better the reception will be. So, clean, bond and ground you antenna's.
