Greetings,
I have removed all the foam from a Sylvan 21'. The alum hull is badly corroded on the inside. White slimey mess. Still wet from rainwater?. Seveal holes (one inch) in the hull. They are repairable.
The bigg question is how to remove the corrision and treat the alum before repouring the foam.
Maybe acid and then zinc chromate primer. Nice boat, just abused by a previous owner.

Thanks,

Re: Aluminum corrision

You can try alumi-brite. The best product that I have used was a hydrochloric acid based aluminum cleaner, industrial stength. It made the aluminum look chrome, but I went to the extremes. I would just go ahead and try a hardware store type cleaner like alumi-brite.
I f you are looking for an acid based substance it should contain hydro chloric acid, which will clean anything off of aluminum. Use safety equiptment when working with any acids.
