Aluminum Hull Possible Repair Solutions

I'm been thinking for awhile now of possible repair solutions for my 14ft aluminum boat. I have alot of corrosion pitting, with 10 or 20 deep ones (none throught the hull) along the keel and strakes where they are attached to the bottom. PO took poor preventative measures for leaving the boat in the water for the summer months. My idea is to take aluminum flitters (small pieces of aluminum, also used in silver paint) and mix it with epoxy to fill in. The idea being, its flexable, sandable and paintable. For pin pits (nothing really deep) using the aluminum flitters mixed in an oil base or latex paint. Idea being used as a high build paint, like a fairing compound. Bottom has been cleaned with a wire brush, then pressured washed to help remove any corrosion I couldn't brush away. After a good cleaning, I'll do the above then use Zinc Chromate on the hulls exterior.
Now the loaded question,,,,, any thoughts, ideas, opions or sugestions good or bad on my ideas?

Re: Aluminum Hull Possible Repair Solutions

Welcome to iboats.....

I would use PC 11 or JB weld and fill the pits....... coat it with gluvit (2 coats) sor sealing and act as an abrasion proof surface, paint and go boating.
