Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum, and looking for some help...

I'm looking at upgrading to a larger boat. I've looked at a couple of Marinettes, and am not sure about their aluminum hulls. I don't know much about aluminum boats, and any help, advice, or words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Aluminum hulls are great.

Welcome to iboats.

Maintenance is easier and they last forever. Being that the Marionette is an older boat be cautious of what the powerplant and drive are.

I love aluminum hulls, like Bob said maintenance is easier and they last forever with proper care. I've owned four boats so far, three have been aluminum hulls, I won't even consider fiberglass anymore.

Aluminum boats are generally lighter and ride a little rougher, flipside is that they generally require less power for the same speed. I really have no experience with larger aluminum boats though, my largest is a 21'

I have had both. Glass in the upper cut boat is gorgeous and with the added weight and the right hull are very smooth riding.

I currently have my 3rd alum boat (18' Starcraft I/O the largest, currently 17' BB with 90 OOB). I bought it (the current one) for the above mentioned reasons as I wanted a boat that I could fish out of and run into things if it came to that and didn't have to worry about messing up the prettiness of the boat.

I think they are great but do not want to bring one to saltwater.
