Looks like I'm slow today, got dragged off by a paying customer while typing my answer.

I will take a picture and post. I may not be using the right term for the part I am describing. But, basically there is clear caulking going all the way around the outter most part of the outdrive where it connects to the back of the boat on the outside.

That's EXACTLY what I was referring to. To make it worse, it's clear sillycone and should never be used on anything below the water line.

Ok first I am not a boat mechanic by any stretch in fact thats why I joined the board as I just picked up my first ( fixer upper ) :D. I will say though that I own an HVAC company and have been turning wrenches about as long as I have been walking . I would ask to see what parts they replaced first and foremost. I do not do a repair in a customers house without telling them and showing them whats wrong and what its going to take to fix it . I also never throw out old parts . I leave them by the furnace and show the homeowner they are there and leave it up to them if they want to put them in the round filing cabinet or not. I also always put the old parts in the new parts box and date the box for the date the new parts were put in. I would say if they cant produce parts and show you the new parts on your boat ( theres a problem) from what I can tell there is a problem as their fix didnt fix it. The BBB does wonders in finding a reputable company to deal with.

I have a poll of my own.... I bet for 175 they tightened the transom bolts and caulked the transom plate on the outside instead of telling this guy he's got a rotten boat...

Yep.... post #14 is when I called that one.
