Ya, seems the economy works both ways, I bought a boat late this summer off the Madison Wi. Craigslist. It's 1983 Glastron SSV 151 bowrider (15.5 footer) it has a 1984 90 horse Evinrude V4 VRO which runs great!! Just had a new floor and carpet installed, with trailer. And came with a Humming bird fish finder. The hull is in great shape, but was a little dull. After much elbow grease and a lot of sweat, I got the silver metalflake really shining:cool: I stiill have a lot of work to do on it (needs new seats, new vinyl and stereo and a few other odds and ends) but I bought it as a winter project. I paid $1500 for it:D

I'm sure the economy has a lot to do with it. But like another poster said, it does not present well, expecially with the multi color paint, and red console. Getting it all one color would make it look better. With a fresh coat of paint, a good cleaning, details like tire gloss on the control cables, wax the motor, etc it would probably draw more interest.

Also, with the holidays coming, this is not the best time to sell expensive stuff.

For folks up north, this seems like the wrong time of year to sell a boat. For our part of the country, it would normally be a good time, because Fall weather is beautiful in the south. This time of year, we don't have the summertime heat and we don't have the daily, afternoon t-storms.

I think you are just running up against a lousy economy. People are scared and they aren't spending money. Combine that with the fact that the used boat market is saturated at the moment, and you have a bad environment for trying to sell a boat.

Sounds like you are not in a hurry to sell it, though. That being the case, the decision to park it for awhile is probably a good one.

i dont know how i missed this thread.....

my point is this.........no one....nobody, no where, has a better handle on cl and the going prices in your area than you do.....

when your not monitoring i boats....your monitoring cl....

you have bought....fixed and sold lots of boats off there......if you say its a good price for the package.....then its a good price for the going market.....

i KNOW if an i boater had a question like how much is this worth...a 1998 yadda with a yadda drive................with out thinking, you would quote a price, and probably be with in $300 bucks on an 7 grand ticket.

some times the market gets "funny"......

im gonna give you an example of a clothes dryer.....its easy for us all to under stand....

a cheap one is $100.
a mid grade @ $200
and hi-end @300

you might have a great cheap one....it will sit when the disposable dollar is only for the hi-end product.....
some times you have a great deal on a hi end.....and all people have ...is money for the low end.....at that time they snub their nose at the low end product....point to the hi end and say thats the one i want for the low end dollar !
..i have seen market shifts like this all the time....they are really weird...but they are temparary

but again.......nobody knows the market in your area like you do.

if you cant find a buyer for the rig.....just tarp it....for a month or so....pull the tarp, hose it down....and re list it !

I believe the economy is the big factor. It seems like just about every thing that is a luxury item has gone down in value. That is that buyers are expecting to pay less. Also not the best time of year for boats or motorcycles. And no offence sir, but it's really not a very pretty hull. The motor and trailer look like a fair deal, but many other small boats to look at right now. Example there's a nice 15' with a 70HP rudy for sale in my neighborhood for $1200.

Yes tash the econ is that bad, most of the reports that come in are from the last quarter...90 days ago. It is extremely vicous for the boat and car ind. I work in a extremely well established automotive dealership that caters to both the retail and business community in a middle up scale community...business is 50% down in sales ...and service is starting the same slide..

You also have christmas coming and thanksgivivng....people are budgeting very close..very.

All that said were more than likely at the bottom, americans budget only for so long and then let it rip....Hold on for spring fever..its going to be a duesy....:D..There we go again
