How sad. What a life, though. Only a small handful of people out of billions have ever been where he was, and he was the first.

I was a little to young to remember his accomplisment but as an older citizen now I truely do appricieate his contributions to our country and the race for space. History will never let us forget him. RIP !

Had an opportunity to see Neil Armstrong many years ago at Oshkosh. The most memorial thing thing that I remember about his talk was his opening comment. He said that the first thing people usually ask him, is what it was like to walk on the moon. He paused, got a big grin on his face and said "you'd like it".

Rest in peace sir, you've been an inspiration to a nation.

I was 11 yrs old, mesmorized in front of a 19" black and white tv. I was sure I was going to be an astronaut.
Probably won't ever see anything like it again.

Like you Deckswabber I watched every single minute of it at 9 years old.
Wasn't as lucky as you as I we had a 12 inch B&W at the time.

Big enough for the massive historic event it was though.

Just hearing the beep after each comm gives me goosies.
