American 180

I am going to buy an America 180 tomarrow. The Marina says it is an 85 but I can't find any info on 85's I find 84 & 86. Did Wellcraft make an American 180 in 85. This boat has a 3.0 Mercruiser 140hp. It says American 180 on the side of the boat. I will buy it anyway, It is in great shape. Any help on this would be great.

According to Wellcraft's website their 180 was called and Elite in 1985. They had a 170 American in 1985.

In 1986 they had an 180 American (and a 190 American which I have) you can look at the hull numnber on the back adn the very last numbers will be the model ex. 190A is mine and the last 2 numbers in front of that is the year ex. mine are 86.

Hope you like it my boat is great and it seems Wellcraft really built them good back then. Just take a look around the lake when your boating there is a lot of great looking old Wellcrafts running around.

Also since you bought it (you say) go to Wellcrafts website and the small link at the bottom that says owners click it and get info. on you boat and join the forums there too.

I just bought an 83' American 180 yesterday. Does anyone know where I can find manuals for it, and for my Mercruiser 120?

Manual for the boat I don't know I had the same question and could not find one even Wellcraft no longer has them. Although there is a little info. on their website.

As for the motor type "manuals" in the forum search and see what you get should be in there somewhere.

I did buy the boat. The HIN indicates it is an 85.
