Just wanted to blow off a little steam, So deal with it. I grew up in a middle class home where my mom worked for less because she was a women and my dad risked his life everyday as a linemen, just to put food on our table. I remeber growing up beeing fiecly patriotic, Every morning at school standing up to say the Pledge of Aliegence. I was taught how to shoot by my dad at the age of 10. I watched my dad leave for the Marine reserve to go to germany for NATO war games, To keep me safe from the Reds. When I was 12 years old I mowed our grass in the shape of an americian flag clearly visable lines and stars. "Big Yard". Never even thaught twice about it just was proud of my country. Was happy I was born here and not some crap hole of a place. When I turned 18 I signed up for the Marines that was my birthday present to the country I loved. Faught my war shed my blood sweat and tears.

What changed? Why has this country gone so far down the road to socialism. I mean come on Ived read all the post and seen what happened during Katrina. I live in FL I know what can happen. And all I heard was the goverment failed its people. No it didnt the people failed themselves and just cant face it. What a bunch of worthless human beeings. You pay for my sons education. Youre rich so help me. Me me me and Im intitled. Bull Crap Your intitled to what you earn. If Karina had hit FL and wiped out one of our citys A year later the city would be rebult and new condos would already be moved into. And realestate value wouldve already been higher then before. Go look at what theve been able to fix. nothin the president staniding in the same place he was last year during a speach and nothings changed. HAH.

I agree........that seems far fetched. Figure if FL was built in a bowl and at the mercy of a depleted dyke system, it would have been the same scenerio. Probably less looting and shooting etc, but I disagree with you on the condos and realestate thing,

IMHO, it's Political Correctness...As the saying goes, To much of anyting is not good. It's needed in moderation, and we have gone to far.

Giving soldiers Sensitivity training at gitmo so those thugs don't get offened is over the PC line.Our troops are not even allowed to touch their Korans (sp?) with rubber gloves (And no I don't have a link for it, find it yourself). They are soldiers, not nannys.

I cannot disagree. I can go on and on about the differences between the generations, but I won't.

The big difference is that young Americans don't care about the country. They see the US as a pawn in the "World" game. We're fat, dumb, rich and happy. All pickings for the rest of the world to "get theirs". That's what has been taught, over the last 30 years, what do you expect?

We can't seem to do anything but hate. We hate business (US only). We hate conservatism, we hate our strength as a military. We hate, hate, hate.

We "obligingly" celebrate our diversity, while promoting seperatism. We're more seperate today than we were in 1930.

A seperate country cannot stand. That's what Hitler and Tojo were counting on, yet we proved them wrong-ONCE.

I don't think we can pull it off, again, when China comes knocking.

The Germans and the Japanese figured it out. The he!! with bullets and bombs, we'll appeal to their own dislike of their own businesses. We'll invade them with their own dollars spent on our products.

They are laughing their A$$e$ off at us.

We're ( US) a military might, at present, with our back up being gutted daily.

Not sure what demographic you're describing there, DWJ - at first I thought you meant "young adults", meaning about the age of our front-line troops, but then I figured you must have some other group in mind. Right?

Those aged 40 to 65.. For those that hated the country, during Viet Nam and still do.

The younger, GEN-X and Y, they just don't give a damn, because their parents, (if they had two) told them we (US) were BAD.

I have a hard time with anyone telling me I'm a "freak" because I had two loving parents that let me prosper via education and support. Not financial---moral.

In today's world, Im a freak because:

1. I have a job, and a good one.

2. I've been married to same woman for 26 years and love her more than ever.

3. I have a plan for retirement, other than the lottery. My own, not company or government.

Well I'm glad to hear you say I'm young, but I do fully resent the implication that I am any less a loyal patriotic American than you or anybody else.

The same with pretty much all my friends and colleagues.

funny after the year we had 3 hurricanes here in central FL 1 acre of land went for 35000.00 the year b4 the hurricanes the same land sold for 10000.00 an acre. Dont think you know it all. And if i was dumb enough to live in a fish bowl, I wouldnt be there during a hurricane. Niether would my family. But Im rich right? Or is it that I have common sence.

I shouldve ran up there to huston a got me some of those goverment issue debit cards heck I helped pay for it. My 33 1/2 percent employment tax that is.

The age group that has led to the basic failer of American values is between 40-50 Not all mind you but a good percentage of them. The hippies generation. And there kids were taught by mom and dad. So there just as bad.

So if they were gone during the hurricane everything would be ok right? their homes would have been unharmed huh? I dont think I know it all, but I certainly don't think that Florida wouldve been much different given the same situation. That same situation would include the same death toll, the same flooding, the same damage.......if you think Florida would have turned that around in a years time, you are (wrong).

I'm 32 and as patriotic as you can get. 2 parents who never divorced although they smoked plenty of dope. It didn't make them a bad person then and it doesn't know. They have been clean for 23 years now. Taught me right from wrong and to work for mine.

Whats the mattter does it hurt to find out that youre values are construed as un american. So what, nobody except you have said people should be rounded up and shot. How about this very un giving statement by Thomas Jefferson. He was asked by congress to approve a $5000.00 bill to help feed the left over war prisoners from the revoluationary war. He Said I cannot in good concous approve of this spenditure of moneys for wich we have the sacred trust to insure all money gathered from the taxation of our citizens is put to good use. Basically he said screw em let them starve we will not feed them or cloth them. How bout that. And from a founding father. Now a days we get mad if america doesnt send money to Indonesia for a natural disater.

Seems to that Mississippi has done a very good job of recovery. Of course they are not in a "bowl", but neither is FL. Maybe it's how the money is spent, the attitudes of the people and the local governments.

All this hurricane knowlenge coming from someone who lives in where? Wisconson if I have a question about snow plowing I ll take youre advise but not on this issue. Talk to someone who lived through Andrew Homestead didnt have that many killed. And it was back up and runing in a little over a year. And no youre house wouldnt be saved if you werent there but you would and youre kids would be there. How many poeple did you see when they were asked were are youre kids. What was there responce. I dont know? What Are you kidding me why didnt they know? Cause they didnt care. I know were my kids are at all times and Im sure everyone here does as well. Thats the kind of people that im talking about I dont know where they are guess ill have to make some more so I can get that bigger check.
