Don S, I expected better then this from you...SMH. Acceptable ripple is depended upon what the power supply will be powering... I can't believe YOU tried to belittle me on this... I seriously thought way better of you then that... I was merely suggesting that anybody (not just the OP) can/could see such ripple visually with a O'scope... Really...SMH! :eek:hwell:

Sorry, I'm looking at this in a real life situation. If a guy comes on here with a problem with his amp cutting out on a boat, what makes you think he has access to an O'scope. If he did, he wouldn't be asking the question to begin with because he has experience in electronics and would have already check that.

What does SMH stand for?

Oh I see now, You've never given information that wasn't really needed when replying...RIGHT! And to think you want to be that know-it-all-guy and don't know what SMH means... It stand for Shaking My Head...WOW SMH again. Sorry I stepped on your all knowing reputation there... And to think I honestly thought you were a standup guy until now... Pick on others to make yourself look good on a comment board of all places... What type personality is that called again??? I've lost a lot of respect for you now...

Loose respect for me all you want, but I doubt the OP is out looking for an oscope.

You really are some arrogant piece of work aren't you! Keep using others to look good...your day is coming... I never ever stated the OP or anybody else were to go out and get an O'scope for the record. You can't read... I merely suggested that was a way to VISUALLY see such ripple. What's the use, you are the all mighty only correct one on here I see now. What a crock... Now I've lost all respect for you. Do you feel big now? Moderator...yea...Instigator is more like it. Now I see why others have words with you. Your ego will catch up with you...

Well I got around to changing out the amp yesterday and it works good now, so that was the issue. Shouldve tested the first one before I installed it. But all is good now, now i can move onto other things

And Im back. I took the boat out last weekend and the amp works fine at idle and at cruising speeds, but when i get up to full throttle or over 45mph or so, it cuts out, I back off the throttle a little bit and the amp comes back on.. so Im probably looking at a new alternator now huh?

So what is the voltage(DC and AC) when you are at high RPMs?

Or....stop listening to your stereo at full throttle!!!! :)
