I have a 1987 Force 125 Model # 1254x7b
I'm wondering if I have a new problem or if this is normal. I just had the power head rebuilt and finally got it in the water this last weekend.
I mixed the gas with double the amount of oil like recommended when new. And it seemed to run alright but when I shut it off I couldn't get it started again without pulling the plugs and cleaning them up. Is this something that is normal and will straighten out after I get back to a regular 50/1 mixture or do you think that something needs to be adjusted. Any imput would be appreciated. Its kind of embarrassing each time you pull up somewhere and have to pull the plugs. But it starts right up after you clean them. Thanks!!!

You might try reducing the plug gap by .005 in. or so. Till you get it worked out with the rich mixture. See if that helps.

One Last Call,

Wont be much help but I rebuilt my 86 125. Have about 7 hours on it so far first tankfull I doubled up the oil and I still have not had to change or clean my plugs.(probably just cursed myself) She starts right up and runs great. So in my opinion it is not normal to have to clen your plugs every time you shut down your motor.

Revert: Thats what I got on mine is about 6hrs. Just got off the phone with this guy. Being it runs and idles so good he thinks that when I shut it down gas is running out of the one of the carbs (or Both) and filling up the crank case. Or theres a tear in the diaphram in the fuel pump. But he also said if it was the mixture and fouling the plugs it wouldn't run worth a crap. So think I'll start with the fuel pump overhaul first and go from there. As far as I know its never been touched. You know now that I think about it the bulb wasn't staying hard it seemed after I shut it off. I'll post what I find or be back for more help. I'm learning I think. I want to thank everybody on this board. You guys are great.
