I cant remember the exact post but I know I was rough on some folks.
however my offer stands.
if you pay the airfareto caracas, I will pay your expenses ther while you are donating your time to Operation smile or Doctors without borders.
I know I offeneded pointer but I apologize directly to Pointer.
however I still wish to challenge pointer to put up or shut up.

if ya ever see the before and after surgery of some of these kids it will it you in the gut and make the most manly man cry.
I regret I cant be a part of the surgical team however I did help keep supplies moving and the gensets running.
for every doki tari it takes another 10 folks and more to make sure the doki can do what they gotta do.
and then ya gotta look at they are doing it in places with no roads.
helicopter the stuff in and the patients come by boat, some spend 4 days in a boat.
so yes I bash bush, not personally but for his total failures in all points. but in the end I am a conservative, I belive in living within your means. if ya dont like the means get a better job.
have a nice day.
I also believe we have to have a medical safty net for the unisued/poorly insuered working class.

any arguments ?

Re: an apology

rodbolt,

I have no idea if I could pull something like this off, but I am curious about the Calendar issues. When are you talking about? I think this would be an awesome experience, me gusta muy mucho.

Re: an apology

I think thge next operation smile is going in march of 07.
if ya got balls and airfare to caracars ill pay the rest.
maybe if we get a break we can fish a bit :).
if ya have a skill the doctors need I will see if your airfare can be covered.
I have paid and will continue to pay all my own expenses.
but the first time you see I kid smile that could never smile before due to teeth growing out the lips you will maybe understand.

its not just VE, its all over.
here in the states'oh my god leftists, if ya cant pay the US taxpayer will<
however pointer and some of the rest may not have ever seen it.
thats why I pay my taxes, sometimes late but always pay, cause there is no better system than here in the US.
but if we dont go show the rest of the world what good is having the best ?

are ya interested ?

Re: an apology

Rodbolt, what you're proposing is very noble.
However, If I had the time/money, I still wouldn't take you up on that challenge. Not that there is a thing wrong with helping those in need wherever they may be.
My problem with it is that I just checked airfare from Fort Myers, Florida to Caracas... My lowest rate is listed in the link provided at $1,530 one-way economy class not countin tax.
I can buy a helluva lotta toyz fer tots with that $1530+tax, rodbolt...(Not that I even have 50buks right now).
But God Bless you, man!

All that could be said as this;
There is GREAT NEED in my own community. I'll do what i can,as I always do.

Re: an apology

My parents did it for many years before they passsed away in poor areas of mexico they really enjoyed it

My dad was in the Lions and ran the White Cane Drive to gather sort and prepare all the eye care supplys

A lot of people dont realize that one of the reasons they bring the recycled eye glasses to other countrys is to NOT get sued

Re: an apology

ell no
I just bought my tiket from norfolk VA to caracas round trip 832 dollars.

if ya got balls I will help ya with air fare
I bought my moms ticket to caracas from Mobile AL last month was 812 dollars.
this year I am paying my mom a trip all expenses paid to SA.

but if ya fly out of miami I can get them all day long under 500 dollars, just flying american airlines really sucks.

Re: an apology

operationsmile.org shows the next Carracas mission to be January 10th through the 20th - Honduras, Bolivia and Morroco in March. Honduras sounds pretty good.

Needing any particular skills? or just warm bodies to tote stuff?

Re: an apology

Rodbolt,

My apologies to you as well. Spirited debate can frequently devolve into something never intended. But that should never prevent you from engaging in conversations that are controversial. FWIW I was not offended by your part in the exchange. Irked might be more accurate.

I have the highest respect for you and your committment to DWB and Op smile. I am sure that it is a worthy cause and well worth anyones time to contribute in any way possible. Your offer to offset expenses to iboats members willing to participate is not only generous but remarkable. Please remember that there are causes right here at home that require equal attention and although they don't have the added complication of overseas travel, and substantially reduced resources, they are no less important.

We can all be heros, but it takes the heartfelt committment you and others on this board have demostrated. A committment sorely lacking in todays society I am sorry to say. Contact me if you have need for a water pump for a well system. I can help.

Re: an apology

Well I don't have any special skills other than scumbag, capitalist salesmanship, but I can definitely help keep those gensets running. I have Frequent Flier miles on Continental and American and both fly to Caracas. I'd contribute one round-trip for me and one for another guy/gal, if I can make the Calendar stuff work. In fact I'll offer the miles for the other guy/gal no matter what.

sometimes the warm bodies toting the stuff saves the day.
first time I went I was scared to death then the genset died and my sister came out of the operating room so I quit humping and went to fixing.
after a stuipid moment with a fuel valve all was well.

but any here that wish to participate, help me with the dates and I will help you on the ground.

Re: an apology

Apparently Venezuela is a very popular destination between New Year's and about January 15 all the flights to Carracas are very heavily booked. I couldn't count on getting there before the 16th. Not sure I could get away before the 18th. Any problemo with no sa habla espanol?

Re: an apology

Pointrer.
I agree but ya flame me so hard cause i have stated I am going to marry a gal in caracas and intend to move there. what has that do do with my patriotism.
or your lack of stating which unit and dates and places served while you were active duty ?
if chavez wins its all off.
that place will go from nuts to crazy.
however I will still support DWB and operation smile.
in my time of life I actually dont have to go in everyday.
so maybe we can meet in someplace we are equal and neither of us speak the language.
howerver water pumps and gensets speak an international language.
3 phase 440 is the same here as there as are the dangers.
water still flows downhill there as here.

my sister wants me to go back with her to hati.
she has been there before but I am not sure mentally I can handle hati right now.

however anyone that has a missionary trip let me know and I will assist.
