To be honest, I'm not familiar with any tool to press in the seals. Whenever I have removed my impeller housing, I just slide the seals back down as far as they will go with my hand. But I'm not sure if my motor has the two yours has.

its not for the rubber grommet seal that slides down the shaft and seats on top of the impeller housing. These are two seals that that go where the other end of the shaft goes, the end with the splines. im pretty sure theyre seals to stop water from getting to the bottom of the crank, because water can walk up the shaft, thanks to gravity. im just trying to figure out how they are pressed into place and in which order they go in.

update: got everything back together, shifter linkage in synch with shifter, but now have a bad starter solenoid. so i jumped the starter with some jumper cables and she runs pretty high in the rpms, but then they drop a little and shes smooth. but after about 20 seconds of run time still no water. installed a rubber grommet inside the the water tube that connects to the copper tube to form a seal. still nothing. is 20 second long enought for water to come out on a non thermostat motor?

That is too long for no water to come out. Have you tried removing the lower unit, blowing compressed air through the tell tale and seeing if air comes out the bottom? or if you can find any blockages or leaks or anything significant enough to leak all the water out or to not allow it to pass through. You also need to be careful how long you run it with no water coming out the tell tale. Too long can shred the impeller.

the housing is getting water. i just took it all apart again and everything was soaked and water in the impeller housing. blew water through the copper pipe and it came out the tell tale so there isnt a blockage. just had i running in a barrel for about 30 seconds and still no water. my housing looks like this... http://www.iboats.com/Mallory-Housi...5671802--**********.723917434--view_id.365173

now where the opening is on the one side of the water outlet, is there something that slips over that? everything seems to be clear of obstuctions and working properly, but this is giving me a headache lol. i appreciate the help

Re: an exhausted topic, im sure. But i need help. Tell-tale

so today i pulled the lower unit again.. there is what looks and smells like oil wixed with water around the exhaust seat.. im thinking this is a problem?? there is not oil in the water intake tube or coming out of the tell-tale when i push water through it, the water is clean. any help is appreciated.

EDIT: Im pretty sure i have a blown head gasket or exhaust gasket, or both. when the motor runs i get a milky looking oil out of the prop. its the same substance that coated my water pump and exhaust tube. water is still NOT pumping which is really frustrating. It idles high and is loud as hell, i pull the throttle linkage and it revs real good, but no water at all. I dont think a blown head gasket or exhaust gasket would stop water from coming out the tell-tale. Im also getting water in the bottom cylinder, that should be a blown head gasket right? old motor, ill replace them both anyway. Any advice/knowledge is greatly appreciated from the merc gods :)
