Re: An open apology
Well, maybe I was getting too harsh, but we let the leash out too far.
Just read through some of the threads below. This place is fast turning into a cross between a junior high school playground and a backstreet honky tonk barroom.
No, I am not innocent. Compulsive Bush bashing gets my goat, but at least I try to remain civil even when the bashing is full of lies and distortions (which it usually is).
I have left alone most of the mod bashing and mod insulting for the last few days. Somehow I don't feel like I am being fair if I delete vicious personal attacks on me. I may be wrong there, too.
The subject of post padding with meaningless drivel has been addressed before. It is back with a vengeance. The subject of thread hijacking has been addressed before. It is back with a vengeance.
Personal attacks have always been verboten. Just check out the last three days.
I think it is unfair to 80,000 members to allow three or four members who are hostile to moderation to clutter up DC with adolescent hi-jinks and thinly veiled insults to the host and the moderators. That, of course, includes trolls designed to start a fight.
I resurrected this thread because it came at a time when some members Emailed me that they were unhappy with the "longer leash" on threads that are not in the style that iboats management wants here and has been the tradition for years..
Remember. This is a private site. iboats sets the rules and we mods try to moderate it to fit iboats criteria.
Do not expect to be allowed to continue behavior contrary to a civil, decent, family friendly environment.
