Analog Tach setting.

I'm hoping someone reading this forum can help me.I recently purchased a 2014 Mercury 150 hp 4 stroke outboard. I am very pleased with every thing about it but I cant get the tach set up right. I have the smartcraft analog gauge interface but the instructions dont say which pole to set my tach to. The tach is a teleflex with settings for 2,4,6,8,10,12. Any Ideas? Thanks

Try 6, if that doesn't work try 12. Most older Mercs are set to 6, but either might work on a newer motor with the Smartcraft to analog convertor..

Thanks For the info. I guess I cant hurt anything switching it around?

Won't hurt a thing. The switch only tells the counting circuits hwo many pulses occur per revolution. The wrong setting only shows the wrong RPM.
