Just like some opinions on anchor swivels, nessesity, luxury, or waste of money. I have always just used a shackle between the anchor and chain , never had a problem. I have looked at lots of commercial fishing boats, none use a swivel, just a shackle. Any feedback would be great.

Tidal water yes.

Boat will swing 180 degrees on the anchor during a tide change

Lakes and rivers not so much

I have been anchoring in tidal water for over 20 years, only dragged once, that was 30 knot wind. We get 12 to 18 ft. tides up here and yes you do swing 180.
