When you thought you have seen it all, then all of a sudden you you just can't believe what you see. This happened last week while on the local lake. I noticed this boater that was having engine problems across the lake from where we were fishing. He had the cover off of his outboard tinkering with it, then he would stop and raise his anchor, drift a bit and then throw it back out, then he would go back to tinkering. Then again he would pull up his anchor and drift awhile and then toss out his anchor again. Finally he got it to sputter a few times and that was about it. We could hear language like that at bar full of sailors come from across the lake. So it was getting late and not many others boaters out at all. We pulled anchor and went over to him. He was glad we came to his rescue. I offered to tow him back to the marina and he accepted. We tied up the rope from my boat to his. He pulled up his anchor, and to my surprise, IT WAS HIS TOOL BOX! So that is why he kept raising and lowering his anchor. He needed a different tool. He said instead of having two heavy things in his boat, he would just use his tool box as an anchor. Then after we got back to the marina, we saw he backing down an old Oldmobile station wagon. He opened the back door, pulled out some lumber that was nailed together that formed like a ramp. Inside the back seat he had a winch that pulled the boat up the wood planks and into the back of the station wagon. The pictures that I took didn't turn out because it was too dark but you would have to see this. I'm afraid next time he is going to come back with pontoons on his car! I'm still shaking my head with disbelief!

Re: Anchor Tools?

Good ol Yankee inginuity :) I love it. Me and that guy would get along just fine !<br />When you don't have a fat wallet, a little inventiveness goes a long way. Don't ever let the lack of funds keep you from that next fishin trip. :D
