I can't speak for everyone, but I prefer not having somebody else's saliva on my money, nor on the bag into which my food purchase is placed.

Therefore, I hereby announce my nationwide campaign against checkout clerks who lick a finger before pulling bills out of the register to make my change, and those who do the same so they can separate the bags to open one for my food or goods. (And against the store managers who let their clerks do this.)

For gosh sakes, put a little cup and wet sponge beside the register when you start your shift...!

I feel you pain.

I will mail you a bottle of hand sanitizer, nitrile powder free gloves and a handful of "sanitized" stamped envelopes (postage paid).

Since I am an old soldier I will risk my health to bravely accept any of the contaminated money you have. Just stuff it into an envelope and once it is full..... mail it to me.

I have the US Army Nuclear, Chemical and Biological training required to dispose of it.

When I was a cashier I was always washing my hands, and never put my fingers in my mouth- money is filthy. On the other hand, if we were as weak of a species as the hand sanitizer manufacturers want us to think we are, we'd have died off a long time ago. There is such a thing to over doing it with the sanitizers.

Seeing it done is one thing.....and I hate to even think about this but how many people wash thier hands after touching money seriously....or how many of us have put a dollar bill in our mouths to hold it while we put our wallets away before we put the dollar in the pop machine.....Just think about all the people who have touched that dollar.....Just saying

Dont mean to hijack....but but this is along the same lines...I hate it when a waiter brings me my food with their thumb practically in my food!

no offense to the OP but really? go sanatize your hands ever 5 mins... oh yeah that kills all the germs but it also make you body less likely to be able to build up immunities to stuff.

I HATE seeing people so germaphobic. Notice they are the ones who get sick more often.

Let your body do its job. build up immunities and you won;t have a problem.

Yeah saliva on your money is nasty but I am sure there is WORSE stuff on your money than just spit.

Yep just think about all those people you see in the bathroom that dont wash thier hands after coming out of the stall. Just think that could be his money that is coming out of the register.

Another chapter in: "It's All About-ME".

Get over it.

We are people that live with people. Our ancestors did just fine dealing with such. Maybe we should too?

I went to Fantastic Sam's one time for a haircut, and when the lady who cut my hair finished, instead of brushing off the ut hair from my neck and shoulders before removing the cape or whatever you call it, she stood behind me and blew on it. I couldn't believe it. She didn't last long there.

Like brewman said, currency is already so filthy, does it really even matter?

The Amish are clean people (all things considering), but seem to have about the dirtiest hands, I have seen. The also walk barefoot quite a bit (in the summer).

For some reason, they seem to be quite healthy, otherwise. Go figure.

I'm kind of paranoid about overuse of hand sanitizers and as a result never use them. I wash my hands before and between critical food tasks but only use plain water and plenty of friction.

What's worse, the cashier doing that with the money or me licking my fingers trying to get the coffee filters apart at work before making a pot of coffee?

I'll admit that I am paranoid to touch a truck stop, or rest area door handle, with my bare hands. Got to "insulate' with a piece of towel or toilet paper. Seem to have less bouts of colds and flu.

Uh...
I trust it's HOT coffee?

It's a known fact in my office that when I make coffee with my favorite Cuerenteno beans that there is no living organism that can possibly survive in that brew and in a pinch can be used for roof repair. Yummy stuff. 5 Hour Energy has nothing compared to Cuerenteno properly prepared!
